Three hundred students of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, selected to attend various courses at the campus of Mewar University, Chittorgarh, were sent off on Tuesday at a ceremony at SKICC, Srinagar, says a release.
Lt Gen DP Pandey, GOC Chinar Corps was the Chief Guest at the event.

The Indian Army in collaboration with Mewar University has endeavoured to provide quality education to the talented but under-privileged youth of J&K through Sadhbhavna. Mewar University is providing a variety of graduation and diploma courses, ranging from B Tech in Civil, Mechanical, Computer Sciences, IT and Electronics & Communication; B Pharm and BSc in Cardiac Care, Opthalmology, Dialysis, Respiratory, Radio & Imaging Tech, Agriculture, Horticulture and Forestry to Diplomas in Med Lab, First Aid Patient care, Dialysis Tech and ECH Tech.

In order to empower the talented students and mitigate the financial burden that may accrue on the families, Indian Army and Mewar University have formulated an assistive scholarship programme.
Lt Gen DP Pandey, on behalf of HQ Northern Command, handed over a cheque of Rs. 2.5 crores to Dr. Ashok Kumar Gadiya, Chairman Mewar University.
Lt Gen DP Pandey, while addressing the students encouraged them to utilize the opportunity and become productive citizens of the society. He emphasized upon the importance of a good academic platform and able instructional staff, which in present instance, is being provided by the Mewar University. He appreciated the immense efforts put in by the Mewar University under the guidance of Dr. Ashok Kumar Gadiya, Chairman, Mewar University, who himself was present to welcome the students of J&K to his Institution’s fold.
The GOC also interacted with the past and present Kashmiri students of the University and urged them to further motivate the present batch to excel not only in studies but in other co-curricular activities as well.
