SRINAGAR, JAN 24

The Indian Army on Saturday helped a woman and her newborn, who were stuck at a hospital in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district, reach their home by carrying them on a stretcher amid heavy snowfall.

The woman, wife of Dadarpora’s Farooq Khasana, was ferried by the soldiers amid 6-feet knee-deep snowfall, said the Chinar Corps of the Indian Army on Twitter.

“Indian Army soldiers carried the wife and newborn of Farooq Khasana of Dardpora, Lolab, for 6 km in knee-deep snow and safely rescued them to their home,” read the tweet.

A video of the personnel carrying the woman on a stretcher was also posted on Twitter by the Chinar Corps.

In a similar incident earlier this month, a pregnant woman was ferried at almost midnight by army jawans in Kupwara after they received a distress call from a man whose wife had just gone into labour and had no means to get to the hospital owing to heavy snowfall. A little while later, the woman gave birth to a baby boy.
