A Quick Reaction Team of Dhrangadhra Military Station on Tuesday night rescued a toddler from a borewell, says Gujarat Defence PRO on Wednesday.
Shivam Verma, IPS, Assistant Superintendent of Police, Dhrangadhra at around 9:29 pm on Tuesday called the Army requesting to undertake rescue of a one and half year old child Shivam from a narrow borewell in Dudhapur village of Dhrangadhra Taluka, approximately 20 km away from Military Station.

A Quick Reaction Team was activated within 10 minutes and rushed to the spot in a light vehicle with essential equipment such as Manila rope, Search Lights, Safety harness and Carabiner etc.
The team assessed and controlled the situation as the entire village had gathered around the site. Shivam was stuck at around 20-25 feet below the ground level which was further 300 feet deep below it and water level had reached till his nose; cries of the child could be heard above which ascertained that he was fine so far.

The team ingeniously modified a metallic hook and tied it to Manila rope and sent it down the borewell. In a few minutes, the hook was struck with the t-shirt of the child and the rope was slowly and steadily pulled up by the team and he was successfully rescued from the borewell.
The team, thereafter, rushed the child to the nearest hospital i.e. Government Hospital, Dhrangadhra for first aid where it was found that the vitals of the boy were fine. Shivam is presently out of danger. However admitted in CU Shah Hospital, Surendranagar.
