In a remarkable demonstration of civil-military synergy, the firefighting teams of the Indian Army stationed at Dharangdhara Military Station swiftly responded to an SOS call from the sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) of Dharangadhara Taluka Administration tin Surendranagar district to combat a massive industrial fire at Dhrangadhara on Saturday evening.
70-80 Army persons, led by dedicated officers, were immediately mobilised to contain the fire. Working in close coordination with the state administration, the teams successfully contained the fire, thereby protecting precious lives and property.

“At 04:15 pm on 22 March 2025, a massive fire broke out at a Paper Factory in Dhrangadhra. The panic was instilled by a huge fireball engulfing the area. The SDM requested the Indian Army’s assistance in dousing the fire. In response, the Indian Army column swung into action immediately with its firefighting teams stationed at Dharangdhara Military Station,” a Defence release said.
“All efforts were put to save the lives of civilians, including ladies and children. The people were evacuated to safer places with the help of civil administration. Till now no loss of lives has been reported. Multiple Firefighting agencies are working hard to control the situation. The operation is still underway with the deployment of approximately 70-80 Army persons with firefighting equipment as of 07:00 pm,” the statement added.
