Accidents happen at 13th Kondai Usi bend on the Ooty to Coimbatore road. Similarly, a couple is murdered in a hotel in Ooty and their jewelery is stolen. But the police could not find out who did this for 16 years. Trainee Assistant Inspector Arulnidhi handled the matter. What happens after that? Is the 13th Kondai needle curve related to murder? He has taken it as a thriller and the rest of the story.
In the first half, Arulnidhi comes to investigate the case of his choice. The story begins slowly as he investigates the people he meets there. At the same time a three-member murder-robbery gang boarded a bus going from Ooty to Coimbatore in the middle of the night. It also includes an old woman and a widow. On the way, Sara, who is going to town to marry a girl, and Rudra, a romantic couple, also boarded the bus.
The plot has picked up pace after the bus left Ooty. A romantic couple eloped with 200 sovereign of gold ornaments. Knowing this, the robbers try to steal the jewel. In such a situation, the people traveling in the bus are in danger. And the bus leads to the 13th Kondai Needle Bend. It gives an idea of what is going to happen next. Meanwhile the interlude and climax twist are interesting.
Most of the scenes of the film ‘Diary’ were shot during the bus journey. It also includes friendship, marriage and songs. Arvind Singh’s cinematography has helped a lot. Ron Ethan Yohan’s background music brings the scenes to life.
The protagonist of this film, Arulnidhi fits the character perfectly and did his role with dedication. Similarly, Sara’s character has been written to make the film interesting. Sara has played that character very well.
N S Madheswaran who did the role of the financier in AVMs ‘Tamil Rockers’ acted as bus conductor in ‘Diary’ is awesome. His spontaneous wits during the tense situation inside the bus was timely and enjoyable.
First half of the film seems like it’s going on too long. At the same time, after the end of the film in the second half, the scenes move again. But director Innasi Pandian has narrated a story and led the second part of the diary.
Overall the ‘Diary’ gives the feeling of watching an interesting thriller film till the end.
