Ashok Leyland Limited, flagship bus production unit of the Hinduja Group has become the world’s third largest bus maker. The company promoted to the rank of Global No.3 in the MHCV bus makers list for the calendar year 2019, based on reports released by SIAM, OICA (Organisation Internationale des Constructeursd’Automobiles), and IHS Markit.

Pioneering in the MHCV bus market, Ashok Leyland has introduced several path-breaking innovations in the industry. The company was first to introduce power steering, air brakes, rear engine bus, India’s first double decker, and many more.
The buses made by Ashok Leyland have always delivered on the brand promise of ‘AapkiJeet. HamariJeet.’ The range includes a slew of innovative products which include the JanBus – world’s first single step entry, front engine, fully flat floor bus; India’s first hybrid CNG plug-in bus, Sunshine – a pathbreaking, frontal crash protected, rollover compliant, aesthetically designed bus for school children, and the Circuit – India’s first Electric bus.

Ashok Leyland has sold 23,100 buses during 2019, a release from the company said.
