The Indian subsidiary of Kobe Steel Group of Japan, Kobelco Construction Equipment India Pvt Ltd on Wednesday launched the SK80 Excavator in Chennai.
Unveiling the 8-ton category mid-segment excavator, Takemichi Hirakawa, Managing Director & CEO , Kobelco Construction Equipment India Pvt Ltd said “As part of fulfilling the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Atmanirbar Bharat vision, the company has launched this product with 70 per cent indigenization’’.

Addressing the media on the sidelines of the launch, Hirakawa said, “We sold over 1,900 equipment last year. Of the total sales, we exported 200 machines to neighbouring Nepal and Bangladesh and we have targeted sell 2,000 units in the domestic market and 300 in overseas markets.”
The Indian subsidiary of Kobe Steel Group of Japan, Kobelco Construction Equipment India Pvt Ltd started its operations from SriCity near Tada in Andhra Pradesh in the year 2006. During the last 17 years the company had made considerable investments and during the last fiscal the company had spent Rs. 75 crore for expanding its facility, Hirakawa added.
