Food packets along with dry ration were provided to the labourers in the interior parts of Nilgiris, who were desperately in need of food supplies on Monday (April 27), says a release from AMMW of Madras Regiment Centre (MRC) in Wellington on Wednesday.
According to a release, dry ration included atta, rice, dal and oil and also cereals and medicines for the children of the labourers by the MRC.
Madras Regimental Centre received message from Civil Administration that labourers in hinterland of Nilgiris require food supplies immediately.
True to the theme of Indian Army “Combating COVID with Care & Compassion”, the Commandant immediately responded to the call and reached out to the labourers with relief materials in few hours.
The Indian Army has been in forefront of reaching out to needy and providing them with the much-needed relief materials as a result of which a large number of people have benefited.
In consonance with Indian Army’s slogan “ Har Kaam Desh Ke Naam” to combat COVID 19, the units and Centres of Dakshin Bharat Area will remain committed to reaching out to the needy people thereby upholding the ethos of “Service Before Self”, the release issued by Defence PRO said.
