Stating that cardiovascular diseases contributed 28·1% of the total deaths in India in 2016 and around 36% of deaths in adult population above 40 years of age are due to heart diseases in Gujarat, to reduce the mortality and morbidity due to heart disease and its risk factors in India by 2025. Talking to reporters after a panel discussion at Ahmedabad Management Association, Ahmedabad, Dr Suhas Dawkhar said 40-50 patients who won against the heart disease will be honoured at these events.
