To commemorate the ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ or 75th Independence Day celebrations, the Air Force Station Jammu organised a felicitation function for the Gallantry awardees so as to motivate others to join the defence forces here on Saturday, says a defence release.
According to the release, three veterans and two serving Galantry Awardees were honoured. They are Sub Maj (Hony Capt) Bana Singh, Param Vir Chakra, Colonel Virender Kumar, Vir Chakra, Colonel Rajinder Kumar Sharma, Kirti Chakra, Shaurya Chakra, Sena Medal, Group Captain Sandeep Singh, Shaurya Chakra and Next of Kin of Late OEM Bodhraj Singh, Shaurya Chakra.

Air Commodore Ajay Singh Pathania, VSM, Air Officer Commanding, Air Force Station Jammu welcomed the awardees and lauded them for their contribution to the nation and setting up highest military standards during their service. The Gallantry awardees were felicitated by the AOC in the presence of restricted senior dignitaries, serving soldiers, school children and NCC cadets. The Gallantry awardees shared their gallant action experiences with the youth and audience.
A documentary was screened on the bravery and valour of awardees which motivated the gathering towards Armed Forces. The event was followed by sharing of anecdotes of bravery by the awardees.
