As part of the grand celebrations of “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav,” the Indian Naval Ship (INS) Valsura, the premier Electrical Training Establishment of Indian Navy, last week conducted a four-day Tri-Service Sports Meet in Jamnagar.
Apart from conducting various events during the first fortnight of August to commemorate Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, the Naval Station Jamnagar is committed to ensure 100% compliance to the “Har Ghar Tiranga” campaign of the Government of India.
The events being conducted include a Band Concert at the historical Lakota Lake along with felicitation of Naval War Veterans of the 1971 War; Mini marathon with participants from Tri-services, school children and civil populace; outreach programme to support orphanage and old age home; motivational talks by young officers at various schools and by a gallantry award winner to young sailors.
To set the activities in motion, the first major event conducted was a Tri-Service Sports Meet. At Jamnagar, in addition to INS Valsura, there is an Army Brigade and an Air Force Station. The sports meet was aimed at promoting esprit-de-corps and jointmanship amongst the three services.
The event was conducted from Wednesday to Saturday, August 03-06 with three different popular troop games, namely, Football, Basketball and Volleyball, promoting team building, group dynamics, scouts spirit and camaraderie.
The Army teams was represented by Army Brigade, Air Force teams by AF station Jamnagar and Samana, and Navy team by staff and trainees of INS Valsura. The finals wwere conducted on Saturday, attended by all three Station Commanders and senior officers and men from all three services.
Medals and trophies were awarded to the winners during the closing ceremony.
