Indian Naval Ship (INS) Valsura, Jamnagar organised the maiden Literature Festival in the Saurashtra region on Saturday, June 11, 2022 as part of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ celebrations.

The event was aimed at inculcating good reading culture, fostering critical thinking amongst young military leaders and generating widespread interest in the field of arts and literature by introducing the participants to a panorama of literary activities.
The event witnessed plenary discussions and talks by 12 acclaimed authors with diverse backgrounds and expertise in varied forms of literature which included military history, journalism, lifestyle, mythology, principles of management publishing, theatre and television amongst others.
As Part of ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahostav’ celebrations, the Lit Fest witnessed wide participation. It included eminent personalities, distinguished officers and personnel from all the three services of the Armed Forces, ladies and children besides civilian guests from Saurashtra region. The event also received an encouraging response from eminent schools of Jamnagar and saw participation of over 100 schoolchildren, including faculty members.
In addition, a book fair was organised with a wide collection of books across all genres that experienced a footfall of more than two thousand. The event culminated with a thought provoking Street Play on the Literature Fest theme and a captivating Fancy Dress Show by children dressed as freedom fighters to commemorate ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’.
