He emphasized that the Commission remains fully committed to safeguarding the democratic process and ensuring a level playing field for all political contestants.
Political parties demand tough action on cash, freebies
During extensive consultations, representatives from major national and state parties—including Bharatiya Janata Party, Indian National Congress, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, Communist Party of India (Marxist), Naam Tamilar Katchi and others—placed key concerns before the Commission.
Political parties widely appreciated the peaceful and smooth conduct of the Special Intensive Revision of Electoral Rolls.
However, they strongly urged the Commission to:

- Prevent distribution of freebies and inducements
- Increase flying squads to curb poll malpractices
- Consider major festivals while finalising poll dates
These demands reflect mounting concerns about electoral integrity and fairness.

Following consultations, the Commission issued firm directives to enforcement agencies, District Election Officers (DEOs), and Superintendents of Police (SPs).

The Commission also stressed the importance of ensuring:
- Seamless EVM management and logistics
- Strong law-and-order preparedness
- Intensive training of election personnel
- Enhanced voter awareness and outreach
Officials were further directed to prioritise voter comfort, accessibility, and smooth polling station management.

Election Commissioner Dr. Vivek Joshi emphasized the importance of robust planning, voter facilitation, and operational readiness to ensure seamless conduct of elections across all constituencies.
The Commission reiterated that there would be zero tolerance for any deviation from election laws, rules, and established procedures, sending a clear message to both officials and political actors.
Electoral machinery enters mission mode
The high-level review covered all critical aspects of election readiness, including enforcement coordination, voter outreach, law-and-order preparedness, seizure monitoring, and polling logistics.
The Election Commission’s proactive engagement signals the beginning of full-scale election preparedness, with the entire administrative and enforcement apparatus moving into mission mode to ensure a credible and transparent democratic exercise.
With Tamil Nadu’s politically charged landscape set for a high-voltage electoral contest, the Commission’s firm stance on neutrality, transparency, and strict enforcement will play a decisive role in shaping voter confidence and electoral legitimacy.
