Director Vetri Maaran, Founder and President of the International Institute of Film and Culture (IIFC) on Friday exhorted the students “Be open to receive and act upon criticism and feedback. That is the only way to grow into excellence as a filmmaker”.

Director Vetri Maaran, Founder and President of the IIFC conferred the Post Graduate Diploma in Film Direction to the first-ever batch of graduates of the Institute.

The culmination of a germ of an idea five years ago has borne fruit this evening, he added.

The International Institute of Film and Culture (IIFC) marked a significant milestone as it hosted its first convocation ceremony, an event brimming with talent and cinematic fervour. The ceremony was held under the esteemed patronage of  Ishari K Ganesh, Chancellor of Vels University, renowned Film Producers  Kalaipuli S Thanu and Film Producer and Director Elred Kumar.

Embracing the spirit of cinematic excellence, the convocation showcased the artistic prowess of the graduating students through the screening of their remarkable films. From stirring narratives to visually captivating storytelling, the films exhibited a diverse range of themes and genres, resonating with the motto of the institution “Through Screen to Social Equity”.

Ishari K Ganesh, Chancellor of Vels University, an eminent figure in the realm of education and film, presided over the convocation ceremony and in his address he encouraged the new graduates to pursue innovation and creativity in their journey as filmmakers. He further added that his Vel’s University will support all the future endeavours of IIFC.

The presence of  Kalaipuli S Thanu and Elred Kumar further elevated the ceremony. Their invaluable experience and guidance offered the graduates a glimpse into the industry’s intricacies, setting the stage for a promising future.

The convocation served as a testament to the dedication and hard work of both the students and the institute, fostering an environment where cinematic dreams transform into reality. It marked not just the culmination of an educational journey but also the commencement of a new chapter filled with boundless possibilities in the realm of films. Students took oath in front of the dignitaries and audience that they would be catalysts for change to achieve social equity and be responsible filmmakers.

As the curtains drew on this convocation, it left behind an aura of aspiration, echoing the potential and promise of the budding filmmakers who are poised to make indelible marks in the world of cinema.
