1,146 hair and beauty professionals from India and other countries etched their names in history with a Guinness World Records achievement of the highest number of makeup artists completing bridal face makeup simultaneously during the record attempt for Most Users in a Makeup Video Hangout, the organizers said.
The unique event, organised by BEASA (Beauty Salon International Trade Show) and All India Hair and Beauty Association, and Brahmani Events, saw the makeup artists completing the face makeup of the brides/models in the traditional Indian style. One makeup artist and one model/bride were present at each location for the first-of-its-kind online event.
The team of Guinness World Records, which was monitoring the event from London, certified the successful record bid of the participants from India, the US, the UK, the UAE, and other places.
“A place in the Guinness World Records is a major feat, and this is a proud moment for the makeup artist fraternity in India and overseas. We are thankful to the Guinness World Records officials for certifying our record,” said Jaswant Bamaniya, Managing Director of BEASA.
The hair and beauty industry has borne the brunt of the Coronavirus pandemic, with business coming to a standstill due to curbs on outdoor events and gatherings. The restrictions on marriages, an important source of business for makeup professionals, have worsened the situation.
“This Guinness World Records attempt aimed to motivate beauty professionals to stay positive in these critical times. They got a chance to showcase their bridal makeup talents before the world through the event. The successful attempt has lifted spirits, and will help everyone emerge stronger from the pandemic,” said Sangeeta Chauhan, President of All India Hair and Beauty Association.
The event commenced at 10:00 am and culminated in one hour. Because of the pandemic situation, all makeup artists wore face masks throughout the event.
