That deceptively simple question forms the philosophical heart of DHI Alchemy: Reset Your Body’s Energy, Frequency and Transform Your Life, the latest book by author, edupreneur and human-development advocate Dr. Manjula Pooja Shroff, presented at an Author Unplugged interaction with media representatives in Ahmedabad on Thursday.
Published by Rupa Publications, the book seeks to move the wellness conversation beyond quick fixes and productivity formulas towards conscious living, emotional well-being and inner transformation.
Earlier unveiled in Thiruvananthapuram by Kerala Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, DHI Alchemy marks another step in Dr. Shroff’s three-decade journey across education, parenting and human development—this time turning the lens towards the inner life of the adult.
Delete. Heal. Install. The three-step reset
At the core of the book is the DHI Method—Delete, Heal and Install.
“Delete” invites readers to identify and release beliefs, behaviours and patterns that no longer serve them. “Heal” focuses on addressing unresolved emotional and mental barriers. “Install” encourages readers to consciously cultivate new thoughts, habits and ways of responding that are aligned with purpose and authenticity.
Dr. Shroff said: “We spend years preparing ourselves for the outside world but rarely pause to understand our inner world. DHI Alchemy is my invitation to make that pause, to recognise what no longer serves us, heal what needs attention and consciously choose what we want to carry forward. I believe real transformation begins with awareness.”
DHI: From reaction to reflection
The concept is rooted in the Sanskrit ‘DHI’ (धी), associated with wisdom, intelligence, discernment and conscious action.
In the book’s framework, DHI represents an inward journey—from unconscious reactions to conscious choices, from mental clutter to clarity, and from external achievement to a deeper understanding of the self.
Drawing on Indian knowledge traditions including Ayurveda, Vedanta and Yoga, alongside her experience in education and entrepreneurship, Dr. Shroff approaches transformation through three interconnected dimensions: Mental, Physical and Spiritual (MPS).
A book that asks readers to measure, revisit and reset
Rather than being positioned as a one-time read, DHI Alchemy is designed to be revisited as life circumstances evolve.
The book assigns separate scores to its Mental, Physical and Spiritual sections. Together, these form an overall DHI Score, intended to help readers identify where their lives may be tilted and which area deserves greater attention.
The 18 chapters explore subjects ranging from words and silence, anxiety, open-mindedness and goal-setting to nutrition, fasting, exercise, longevity, sleep and circadian rhythm. Its spiritual section explores energy, meditation, solitude, failure, gratitude and the tendency to remain trapped in the past or future.
The premise is simple: as life changes, our inner needs change too. The book therefore encourages readers to return to its framework periodically rather than treating personal growth as a finished project.
From raising children to understanding the self
DHI Alchemy extends an evolving body of work.
Dr. Shroff’s first book, Baby Steps to Big Dreams (2023), focused on conscious parenting, attachment, bonding and children’s emotional foundations. Her second, Safe Teen Steps: A Guide to Safety for Teenagers in Today’s Internet World (2024), examined cyber risks, digital behaviour and resilience.
With DHI Alchemy (2026), the conversation moves inward—towards the adult reader’s choices, relationships, habits, aspirations and search for meaning.
The book has also appeared on the Nelson ranking list in September 2026 and reached No. 1 among Amazon Hot New Releases.
Ultimately, DHI Alchemy offers a proposition that is both ancient in spirit and contemporary in application: contentment may not always come from adding more to life; sometimes it begins by understanding what needs to be released, healed and consciously rebuilt.
