Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Bhupendra Patel on Tuesday morning during auspicious hours took charge as the 18th Chief Minister of Gujarat at the state secretariat in Gandhinagar.

Along with Patel, all the 16 ministers, including eight cabinet-rank ministers, also took charge of their respective departments at Swarnim Sankul-1 and Swarnim Sankul-2, said an official press release.

Patel took oath as chief minister for the second consecutive term at a ceremony attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday following the BJP’s landslide victory in the Assembly elections.

Before taking over as CM on Tuesday, Patel visited the offices of all the ministers and congratulated them.
The cabinet-rank ministers are Kanu Desai, Rishikesh Patel, Raghvji Patel, Balvantsinh Rajput, Kunvarji Bavaliya, Mulu Bera, Kuber Dindor and Bhanuben Babariya.
Harsh Sanghvi and Jagdish Vishwakarma are ministers of state with an independent charge.
The six other ministers of state are Parshottam Solanki, Bachu Khabad, Mukesh Patel, Praful Pansheriya, Kuverji Halpati and Bhikhusinh Parmar.
One-day Assembly session to be convened on next Tuesday
Governor Acharya Devvrat will administer oath to a pro-tem Speaker before the commencement of the one-day session of the State Assembly of Gujarat to be held on next Tuesday, December 20. The pro-tem Speaker will administer oath to all newly-elected MLAs and hold the election of the Speaker.
Governor Acharya Devvrat is also likely to address the State assembly.
CM to dedicate Vaishnodevi multilayer underpass tomorrow
Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel will inaugurate a multilayer underpass at Vaishnav Devi circle on Sarkhej – Gandhinagar highway on Wednesday.
It was constructed at a cost of Rs 40.36 crores. Those travelling on Sardar Patel ring road will be able to use this underpass. The underpass is 720 meters long and 23 meters wide. It is a six-lane underpass with an 11×2 meter carriage way. Its RCC wall is 536 meters long while the RCC box is 70 meters long.
The underpass is constructed by the Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority (AUDA)
