For a few Amdavadis, it was a celebration of ‘International Yoga Day’ with a difference.
The participants at Biorhythm Fitness Studio, Ahmedabad, celebrated Yoga Day, marked the world over on Monday, with ‘Anti-gravity’ yoga, which combines traditional asanas with other exercises like Pilates, aerial acrobatics, and calisthenics. The anti-gravity yoga is performed with the aid of a hammock-like suspended gear for a complete body workout.
Commenting on this unique event, Biren Dolia, Master Instructor at Biorhythm Fitness Studio, said, “Anti-gravity yoga helps decompress the spine, improves core strength and flexibility, and relieves pressure while aligning the vertebrae.”
“Yoga is meant to exercise the whole body and the mind without any stress. Anti-gravity yoga does the same, but just a better,” Biren added.
The participants, in a special session previous day, began the Yoga Day celebration with Surya Namaskar, light exercises, and super combo sets, besides other stretching and relaxation exercises.
