PUDUCHERRY, DECEMBER 9
Puducherry Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy accused that the BJP-led NDA government at the centre has utterly failed to control the price of onions here on Monday.
The Chief Minister took part in various programmes to mark the 73rd birthday of Congress president Sonia Gandhi.
On the sidelines of the programmes, Narayanasamy said the price of onions had sky-rocketed to Rs. 300 per kilogram. The Prime Minister had failed to comment on the rising price of the vegetable and also failed to find a solution to the problem, he said.
“The price of the vegetable had even gone up during the time of UPA government led by Congress, but we effectively controlled the price by importing onions from foreign nations,’’ the Chief Minister said.
“The BJP government is not at all bothered about the spiralling price rise. The government seems not concerned about the plight of ordinary citizens,” he accused.
The Chief Minister and his cabinet colleague A. Namassivayam pulled the golden chariot of Manakula Vinayager temple and offered prayers at churches and mosques.
They also distributed half a kilogram of onion to women party workers at the PCC office in Puducherry.
