NEW DELHI/CHENNAI, OCT 23

The Bharatiya Janata Party has constituted a four-member team, including a former chief minister and a former police commissioner, to study and report the atrocities against party workers in Tamil Nadu. The delegation has been asked to submit the report at the “earliest”.

On behalf of @BJP4TamilNadu, we thank our @BJP4India National President Thiru @JPNadda avl for the four-member delegation in response to the brutal & irrational behaviour of the Corrupt DMK Government.

In a release, the BJP said, “National President JP Nadda has nominated a four-member delegation to visit Tamil Nadu, where BJP workers are facing brutal and irrational behaviour from Tamil Nadu government. The delegation will submit report at the earliest.”

The team members include former Karnataka Chief Minister DV Sadananda Gowda, Satya Pal Singh, former Mumbai police commissioner, BJP Andhra Pradesh President D Purandeswari and Karnataka MP PC Mohan.

Party’s Tamil Nadu State President K Annamalai welcomed the move and said, “The DMK government has only displayed fascist tendencies since it came to power in May 2021.”

Annamalai tweeted that the party’s social media functionaries have been “constantly harassed and arrested on frivolous charges” and alleged exaggerated sections are imposed.

Annamalai alleged most of the cases are being filed by DMK functionaries and police are pressurised to make the arrests to satisfy the ego of DMK ministers. He charged the DMK government and police of double standards and said no action was being taken on complaints filed by the party.

“The DMK government is known for making targeted arrests of those popular in social and mainstream media but has looked the other way towards genuine complaints filed by BJP TN,” he said.

Annamalai alleged arrests were being made without serving summons and arrests were made on the eve of weekends or before long government holidays. The party state president said the delegation will bring to light the excesses of the DMK government.

Actress Gautami Tadimalla on Monday resigned from the Tamil Nadu’s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

“…Today I stand at an unimaginable crisis point in my life and find that not only do I not have any support from the Party and leaders, but it has also come to my knowledge that several amongst them have been actively helping and supporting the very person who has betrayed my trust and cheated me of my life savings…,” she wrote in her resignation letter.
