Bank of Baroda, one of India’s leading public sector banks, organized a Mega Camp at Gozaria village in Mehsana district, Gujarat, on Monday. The camp was held as part of the nationwide Saturation Campaign launched by the Department of Financial Services (DFS), Ministry of Finance, Government of India. The campaign, which runs from July 1 to September 30, 2025, aims to ensure 100% coverage of financial inclusion and social security schemes at the Gram Panchayat (GP) and Urban Local Bodies (ULB) level.
As the convenor of the State Level Bankers’ Committee (SLBC) in Gujarat, Bank of Baroda played a key role in organizing the event.
The programme was graced by the esteemed presence of Sanjay Malhotra, Governor, Reserve Bank of India; Debadatta Chand, Managing Director & CEO, Bank of Baroda; Rajesh Kumar, Regional Director, Reserve Bank of India; Ashwini Kumar, General Manager, Bank of Baroda and Convenor SLBC, Gujarat. Truptiben Amritbhai Mistri, Sarpanch of Gozaria Gram Panchayat, along with senior executives from various banks. Over 1,000 villagers and prominent local citizens also attended.
In his keynote address, RBI Governor Sanjay Malhotra emphasized the importance of financial inclusion and ensuring banking services are accessible to every eligible citizen. He highlighted that opening a bank account is the first step toward financial empowerment and encouraged account holders to actively transact and maintain regular usage. The Governor also stressed the importance of completing the re-KYC process to keep accounts operational and secure. “The Governor also urged people to exercise caution when choosing financial products and to be wary of attractive schemes, which may appear attractive but carry a high risk of fraud.” He personally interacted with Business Correspondents (BCs), Self Help Group (SHG) members, and other participants at the camp.
Commenting on the initiative, Debadatta Chand, MD & CEO, Bank of Baroda, said,
“Financial inclusion is a cornerstone of equitable growth and social empowerment. Our objectives through saturation campaigns like this, is to reach every eligible citizen and ensure that the benefits of financial and social security schemes reach the last mile. The participation and enthusiasm seen in Gozaria demonstrate the collective impact we can create.”
As part of the programme, claim cheques under the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY) were handed over to beneficiaries. Certificates of Insurance under PMJJBY and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY), along with enrolment acknowledgment receipts under the Atal Pension Yojana (APY), were distributed to newly enrolled beneficiaries by the RBI Governor and Bank of Baroda MD & CEO.
The Mega Camp saw active participation from all bank branches operating within the Gozaria Gram Panchayat.
This Mega Camp exemplifies Banking Fraternities unwavering commitment to furthering the Government of India’s vision of universal financial access and comprehensive social security coverage.
