A boiler blast at NLC power plant in Neyveli was reported on Thursday. At least 8 people were feared sustained grievous injuries.

Initial reporters suggests, the fire resulting from the blast caused serious burn injuries to two contract workers and wounded six others.
An NLC official said that the blast that occurred at the sixth unit of the NLC India Thermal Power Station-II, on Thursday evening left two workers with serious burn injuries.
The officer added that the pressure led to the explosion in the plant’s boiler which was followed by a flash fire that resulted in injuries to six workers and two technicians.
The boiler at NLC India Thermal Power Station-II is 84-meter high and at the time of the accident workers and technicians were at a height of about 32 meters.
Power generation at the NLC plant was halted after the accident, and the injured have been rushed to a private hospital in Tiruchirappalli, the report added.
The NLC India Thermal Power Station-II is a 1,470 MW facility located in Cuddalore district and it has seven units of 210 MW each that are currently generating 450 MW power.
