There is something quietly powerful about the era we live in. Across cities and industries, women are stepping into spaces that once seemed distant, learning new skills and redefining leadership through persistence rather than noise.
Mahira Bherwani represents this emerging wave of young women who are building their identities through purpose, learning and impact.
Currently serving as Assistant Director at Global Energy Food Industries Pvt. Ltd., she works alongside her father in a business engaged in FMCG manufacturing, agro-commodities trade and exports—sectors that demand discipline, adaptability and continuous learning.
Yet for Mahira, the journey is not about titles.
“If someone asks what I’m chasing, I won’t say money or status,” she says.
“I want impact. I want the rooms that once intimidated me to eventually feel familiar.”
Learning the Business from the Ground Up
Instead of merely managing existing operations, Mahira chose to expand the company’s verticals by introducing new products into the portfolio, helping the organisation explore fresh opportunities in competitive markets.
Through this process, she has immersed herself in every aspect of the business—from production processes and trade dynamics to export documentation and product development.
A typical day can involve discussions on trade strategy, overseeing operations, production planning, exploring new product ideas and understanding the constantly evolving market landscape.
“Right now, my work involves everything and anything,” she says.
This hands-on approach has helped her develop a deeper understanding of how everyday decisions shape the long-term direction of a company.
A Generation That Is Claiming Its Space
Mahira believes her journey reflects a larger transformation unfolding across industries.
“I’m proud to be part of a generation where women today take a stand in every room possible,” she says.
For her, the most meaningful part of the journey is the sense of purpose that comes with building something meaningful.
“There is no better feeling than waking up knowing you have something meaningful to work towards.”
The Courage to Begin
Mahira describes her story as one still unfolding.
“My story is still being written,” she says.
“I have only just begun, with many more opportunities and lessons ahead.”
And perhaps that is what defines the new generation of women leaders — not just the titles they hold, but the quiet determination to learn, grow and create something of their own.
“I want to build something with my name on it — not borrowed, not handed over.”
Because sometimes the most powerful legacy is not merely success.
It is the courage to begin — and the resilience to keep moving until the vision becomes real.
