Over 500 participated in #WalkInPink, Walkathon, organized by MGM Cancer Institute, a wing of the City-based multi-specialty hospital to create awareness on Breast Cancer on Sunday.
P Vijayakumar, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Anna Nagar of Greater Chennai City Police (GCCP) flagged off the WalkInPink Walkathon from the entrance of the MGM Cancer Institute off Nelson Manickam Road to Anna Nagar Tower Park.
Over 500 participants, including the Dr Urjitha Rajagopalan, Director, MGM Healthcare, Doctors, Paramedical staff and students of DG Vaishnav College and Krishnaswamy College enthusiastically took part in the Walkathon. Those who have participated in the Walkathon carried plaques with the awareness slogans on Breast Cancer.

Addressing at the flagging off Walkathon, Dr M A Raja, Senior Consultant, Medical Oncology, Director – Oncology Services, Chairman, Medical Services Board of MGM Healthcare said, “MGM always encourages and conducts such awareness drives and extending its supporting arm for the cancer afflicted patients. The time has now come for the people to understand the impact of the disease exists in the society. The main aim of the Walkathon was to educate the women on Breast Cancer and preventive measures like screening and taking treatment at the right time.”
