A Pakistani national was caught by the Border Security Force (BSF) while trying to sneak into India through the land border in Gujarat’s Kutch district, the BSF said on Wednesday.
The citizen of the neighbouring country was intercepted by vigilant personnel of the paramilitary force when they observed suspicious movement near the border on Tuesday, said a BSF release.

The detained individual seems to be mentally unsound and is unable to reveal his identity. Nothing suspicious was found from his possession, it said.

Ahead of this year’s Republic Day, the Border Security Forces (BSF) has sounded a 15-day special alert along the India-Pakistan border named ‘Operation Sard Hawa’. The central security forces have issued an alert along the borders of Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan and Gujarat.

Every year around Republic Day, a special alert is sounded along the border for about 10 days. However, due to the Ram Mandir consecration on January 22, this year, it has been issued for 15 days.
The intelligence report further stated that before January 26, Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists may infiltrate via Gujarat. Owing to this, the BSF has increased patrolling of All Terrain Vehicles (ATVs).
The border guarding force is on high alert to deal with any type of terrorist attack in view of the upcoming Republic Day celebrations, said the release.
