PUDUCHERRY, JULY 20
Chief Minister of Puducherry V. Narayanasamy today presented the budget for the Financial Year 2020-21 amidst rebuttal from the Lt. Governor Kiran Bedi. Earlier in the morning, she abstained from the inaugural address citing omission by the State Government in seeking permission from the Administrator of the Union Territory.
Both the Lt. Governor and the Chief Minister have been exchanging letters since yesterday evening, charging and counter charging each other on the Annual Financial Statement.
When the house assembled at noon, Opposition Members objected to the Chief Minister presenting the Budget in the absence of the Governor’s address. However, the house earlier adopted a resolution to postpone the Governor’s address.
While the Chief Minister was presenting the budget, the Lt Governor is seen sending clarifications to the press through Social Media, on her stand in the issue. She questioned the validity of the Budget.
Annual budget file has still not been released from office of the Chief Minister for Administrative approval by LG, as per UT Act & Business Rules.

An intriguing case of Puducherry Assembly without the Budget even seen & approved by (LG) & ‘trustees’ wanting to discuss the rooms, design & more! pic.twitter.com/5pIqO9Cfjs
