Ahmedabad branch of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) on Tuesday conducted a day-long Campus Orientation Programme for over 650 newly qualified CAs from Gujarat, including 320 from Ahmedabad.
Speaking with navjeevanexpress.com, CA Ranjeet Kumar Agarwal, Chairman, The Committee for Members in Industry and Business (CMI&B) of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), said, “A total of 98 companies, including 9 from Ahmedabad, are participating in campus placements this year and have offered around 10,250 jobs. However, 9,850 CAs have been registered against 10,250 job offers, indicating that the supply of Chartered Accountants in various sectors is short against the demand. 12,500 candidates had passed the CA final examination in the country. The campus orientation program is being organized for them in a total of 30 centers of ICAI across the country.”
To a query on package, Agarwal said, “The ICAI has fixed the minimum annual package as Rs 9 lakh this year which was Rs 6 lakh last year. Tolaram Group has offered a whopping Rs 36 lakh package for a foreign posting while another company has offered Rs 32 lakh for domestic posting, these are the record offerings so far. Nine Ahmedabad-based companies have come with 140 job offers. Among the recruiters, ICICI Bank has offered 700 jobs, Infosys 75. Bank of Baroda, Adani Group, public sector giants like IOC, start-ups, fintechs are also taking part in this recruitment drive.”
CA Bishan Shah, Chairperson, Ahmedabad branch of ICAI, said, “We impart training to the newly qualified CAs on facing the interviews with the required skills by our senior members. The interview will be held virtually from August 24 to 31 all over the country.”
On this Occasion, CA Aniket Talati, Vice President, ICAI was also present and motivated the newly qualified CAs. Along with him CA Purushottam Khandelwal, programme Director-Campus placement, Central Council Member, ICAI.
M Nagarajan, Commissioner of Higher Education, Gujarat State was the chief guest.
Ahmedabad Branch Vice Chairperson CA (Dr) Anjali Choksi and Secretary CA Nirav Agarwal and other officials were also present in this program.
