Seven people including a woman and 2 children were killed when a car in which they were returning from Tiruvannamalai collided head on with a lorry coming in the opposite direction in Chengam in Tiruvannamalai district on Sunday morning.

The accident took place when the family members were returning to Karnataka after worshipping at the Tiruvannamalai temple. A person injured in the accident was shifted to a hospital for treatment.
Bodies of the victims were recovered and sent for post mortem to the nearby Government General Hospital.
Lorry driver absconded from the scene of accident and the police have registered a case and are investigating.
