The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari on Friday dedicated a heritage hall as part of the platinum jubilee celebrations of the Flying Instructors School at the Air Force Station Tambaram here on Friday.
The Chief of the Air Staff opened the heritage hall that depicts the history of the Flying Instructors’ School from its days of training imparted on Tiger Moth planes in 1948 to state of-the-art Pilatus PC-7 in the present times.
It also showcases the 75 years growth of the school through an augmented reality based immersive experience.
The ‘smriti sthal,’ (memorial) built in memory of the heroes who sacrificed their life for the country, was inaugurated by Alka Ahuja, widow of Vir Chakra awardee late squadron leader Ajay Ahuja who displayed exceptional bravery and selflessness during Operation Safed Sagar in 1999. He was also a part of the Flying Instructors’ School.
