CEPT University unveils next-gen studio buildings redefining collaborative learning

  • Flexible, future-ready studios designed for teaching, exhibitions and public engagement
  • 19,300 sq ft sustainable infrastructure accommodates 300 students with low-energy design
  • Project powered by philanthropic support and campus-centric architectural vision

NE EDUCATION BUREAU
AHMEDABAD, FEB 2

CEPT University has marked a major milestone in campus infrastructure with the inauguration of two state-of-the-art multi-purpose studio buildings, envisioned as highly flexible learning environments that respond to evolving pedagogies in design education.

Inaugurated on January 29, 2026, the new Studios have been conceived as pre-engineered buildings that can seamlessly adapt to a wide range of academic and public uses—ranging from teaching-learning activities and studio reviews to semester-end exhibitions, lectures and large-scale public events.

The facilities were inaugurated by Barjor Mehta, President, CEPT University, in the presence of Punit Lalbhai, Member of the Governing Body, CEPT University; Bimal Patel, Member of the Board of Management and Building Committee; Naishadh Parikh, Member of the Governing Body; P. S. Patel, Chairman and Managing Director, PSP Projects Limited; Chirag Patel, Joint Managing Director, M & B Phenix; along with faculty and staff members.

Designed for Adaptability, Scale and Comfort

Spread across 19,300 square feet, the two studio buildings can collectively accommodate up to 300 students, offering column-free, adaptable spaces that support both structured academic work and large collaborative gatherings.

Environmental comfort and sustainability have been embedded into the design. The buildings feature high-placed windows for abundant natural daylight, insulated reflective steel panels to minimise heat gain, and HVLS fans combined with optimised air-conditioning systems to significantly reduce energy consumption. A solar power installation further contributes to meeting part of the facilities’ energy requirements.

Integrated Campus Infrastructure and Water Stewardship

The studio buildings form part of a larger infrastructure upgrade that includes new parking facilities, internal roads, a cafeteria, a multipurpose kund area, and a comprehensive rainwater harvesting system.

Rainwater from 2.58 acres of the campus will be entirely harvested through 33 percolation wells, strengthening groundwater recharge. A specially designed kund area, with a temporary storage capacity of approximately 6 lakh litres, doubles as a multipurpose open space outside the monsoon season, reflecting CEPT’s approach to functional landscape design.

Architecture Rooted in Campus Vision

The project was designed by Anand Patel of Anand Patel Architects, in collaboration with CEPT Campus Architect Dilip Patel, ensuring architectural continuity with the university’s spatial philosophy.

The facility has been developed with generous contributions from the PSP Foundation, M&B Charitable Trust, and M&B Engineering Ltd, underscoring the role of industry-academia partnerships in strengthening educational infrastructure.

With the inauguration of these next-generation studios, CEPT University reinforces its commitment to future-ready, sustainable and student-centric learning environments, setting new benchmarks for design education campuses in India.
