Secretary of the Department of Defence Research and Development (DDR&D) and Chairman of DRDO Dr Samir V Kamat on Thursday appreciated the Combat Vehicles Research & Development Establishment’s (CVRDE) efforts for achieving the self-reliance in AFV categories and insisted to focus more on innovations, to adapt the emerging scenario in Defence Ecosphere.
He was speaking at the golden jubilee celebrations of the Combat Vehicles Research & Development Establishment (CVRDE), one of the premier defence research institutes under Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).
The research institute of city’s pride has provided several ground-breaking inventions to its credit in the field of combat vehicles. Under DRDO, the institute has played a significant role in the enhancement of the country’s self–reliance in defence cutting-edge technologies for the past 50 years.
Prof. Prateek Kishore, Director General of Armament and Combat Engineering was the Guest of Honour of the function. Other Dignitaries viz., Directors from DRDO Headquarters/labs, Army, Navy, Central and State Government officials, Industry Partners have also graced the function.
The achievements of CVRDE was highlighted by eminent veterans through the recorded video, which was telecasted during the function.
During his special address, the Guest of Honour expressed his gratitude to all the veterans who have immensely contributed to the success of the establishment. On the occasion of golden jubilee celebrations, the CVRDE flagship products were displayed in the form of an exhibition and the features of each system were explained to the delegates.
In the afternoon session, a panel discussion was held on the topic “Tank Warfare in 21st Century – The operational & technological requirements” wherein, the expert’s perspective was shared between the eminent personalities of Indian Armed forces, DRDO & Industry partners, which is beneficial for CVRDE fraternity to meet the futuristic challenges.
