In a significant achievement, Charotar University of Science and Technology, CHARUSAT, Changa bagged the highly esteemed DST-PURSE (Department of Science and Technology – Promotion of University Research and Scientific Excellence) grant for the year 2023 worth Rs. 8.51 crores, says a release.
The university’s remarkable feat comes as recognition of its commitment to advancing scientific research and innovation to convert waste to value-added products to save the environment. Under this program, the university will establish high-end sophisticated equipment like FESEM, LC-MS, in situ Raman with electrochemical workstations, etc.
The process and indigenously developed technology under the project theme “Multidisciplinary Approach towards Sustainable Bioconversion of Waste to Value-added Products” would facilitate industries and waste management plants to mitigate one of the major national challenges of treating industrial and sewage wastewaters and their environmentally safe disposal in the waterbodies to fulfil the “clean water for all” goal of the Government of India. Community outreach activities and sensitization programs executed as a part of the project will further strengthen the Swachh Bharat and Jal Shakti Abhiyan of Govt of India.
The technology and know-how developed through the project are expected to benefit through circular economy, ensuring improved environmental health that would result in healthy human lives, optimal agricultural productivity and preservation of biodiversity.
