Owing to the persistent torrential downpour and heavy winds, Chennai airport has briefly suspended arrival of flights till Thursday evening in view though departures would continue, authorities confirmed.
Chennai Airport regrets the inconvenience caused to esteemed passengers due to severe weather conditions. Passengers are requested to contact concerned airline(s) for any updates regarding schedules. @AAI_Official @MoCA_GoI

“Due to severe rains and heavy cross winds, arrivals at #AAI Chennai Airport will remain suspended from 1315 hrs to 1800 hrs, today. Departures will continue. The decision has been taken considering the safety aspect of passengers and severity of wind,” the Chennai Airport tweeted.
There will no change in the schedules of long distance trains going towards the western side (Eranakulam and Renigunta-Mumbai side) and southern side towards Chengalpattu. Regarding the trains running north towards Delhi, Howrah and Hyderabad, we shall update you shortly.

In another tweet, the metropolis airport regretted the inconvenience caused to passengers due to severe weather conditions.
In a latest tweet, the AAI announced the arrival of the first flight from Delhi at 18 hours.

Sunday pattern of suburban train services in Chennai area on Friday, says S Railway
Due to incessant rain in various areas of Chennai, Sunday pattern of Suburban train services will be maintained in Chennai Central – Arakkonam, Chennai Central – Gummidipundi/Sullurupeta, Chennai Beach – Chengalpattu and Chennai Beach – Velachery sections on Friday, says a Southern Railway Chennai Division release.
