CHENNAI, JUNE 7
Acting upon specific intelligence provided by DRI, Chennai Zonal Unit, 5 passengers who arrived in Chennai on Thursday from Dubai were intercepted by officers of the Air Intelligence Unit and search of their persons resulted in recovery of 6 nos. of gold chain of 24K purity and 10 bundles of gold paste from which 7 nos. of solid gold ingots of 24K purity were extracted.
In total, gold weighing 6,168 grams valued at ₹3.91 crores were seized under section 110 of The Customs Act, 1962 and the said 5 passengers were arrested.
Further investigation is under progress.
