In a significant initiative aimed at providing hassle-free pleasant travel experience for passengers, Chennai Division of Southern Railway has announced the introduction of the First Airconditioned EMU train service on Saturday in Chennai Beach – Chengalpattu section. The AC EMU service was first introduced in the Mumbai suburban and witnesses’ steady patronage among commuters, especially office-goers and women travelers. Following its success, the AC EMU service has been introduced in Chennai suburban in Chennai Beach – Chengalpattu section which registers high footfalls.
- The maiden service of AC EMU train will commence on Saturday from Chennai Beach at 07:00 hrs
- Train No.49003/49004 & 49005/49006 Chennai Beach – Chengalpattu – Chennai Beach will run in main line and Train No.49001/49002 Tambaram-Chennai Beach –Tambaram AC/EMU will run in sub-urban lines
The service will be a boon for commuters during the peak hours and the hot and humid weather conditions. The modern AC EMU rake, equipped with better facilities for passengers like automatic doors, passenger information systems, CCTV cameras, well-marked entry/exit points, and is a significant milestone in enhancing passenger comfort.
The First Air- conditioned EMU service will leave from Chennai Beach at 07:00 hrs on April 19th 2025.
Train No.49003/49004 and Train No.49005/49006 Chennai Beach – Chengalpattu – Chennai Beach Air-conditioned EMU services will be commenced with effect from 19.04.2025 in both directions except Sundays.
Train No.49001/49002 Tambaram-Chennai Beach –Tambaram Air-Conditioned EMU service will be commenced with effect from Ex. Chennai Beach on Saturday and Ex. Tambaram on Monday except Sundays.
