In order to strengthen customer base and attract new streams of freight and Parcel traffic, the Chennai Division of Southern Railway has been undertaking multifarious efforts.
The recently established Business Development Units (BDUs) is one such endeavor that has successfully been bringing new freight business to the Division.
In this connection, to serve customers better, Chennai Division has launched an in-house mobile application named “Freight Seva” – A one stop destination for information needs, “Freight Seva” app has all the requisite details for access by freight customers such as
- Various incentive schemes of Indian Railways for freight customers
- All goods sheds in Chennai Division,
- Types of wagons and the various commodities that can be dealt in them,
- Parcel Cargo Express trains with schedules, freight rates, parcel rates, etc.
The app has a query module wherein customers can seek clarifications regarding goods/parcels dealt in Chennai Division. The mobile app also facilitates customers to ask for an approximate quote for any commodity and to any rail destination. Furthermore, the policy initiatives taken by the Ministry of Railways will also be updated in the mobile app from time to time for the benefit of freight customers.
Corporates, Industrial Units and other freight/Parcel customers are requested to use ‘Freight Seva” App extensively for their need, says a release from Chennai Railway Division.
