In an effort to showcase cutting-edge research and advances in Pulmonology, the Department of Respiratory Medicine, Apollo Hospitals, hosted the Apollo Chest Update 2024 here on Sunday. The event brought together top minds from the discipline to facilitate the sharing of knowledge and practice in the field and generate more awareness on respiratory conditions among the public.
The summit focused particularly on the diagnosis and treatment of Interstitial Lung Diseases – or conditions that cause scarring of the lungs. Doctors have reported that patients have become more aware and are seeking information from their family physicians about such conditions — particularly post-COVID. It was emphasized that timely diagnosis and treatment can significantly impede the progression of such diseases. The summit also discussed latest developments relating to tuberculosis, sarcoidosis, lung cancer and pulmonary embolism and cutting-edge procedures to improve outcomes in the field.
Suneetha Reddy, Managing Director, Apollo Hospitals Group, said, “As a leading player in the healthcare space, we reiterate that we are committed to not just ensuring the best care outcomes but also enabling collaborative learning and innovation through knowledge-sharing networks. To this end, we are pleased to host the Apollo Chest Update 2024 and bring together bright minds from the pulmonology space to fashion a 360* understanding of illnesses. Pulmonology has always been a critical vertical — we believe such platforms will spotlight key developments in this space and also help us calibrate our responses in a post-pandemic context.”
Dr R Narasimhan, Head of Department, EBUS Services and Bronchial Thermoplasty Services, Apollo Hospitals, said, “We at Apollo Hospitals have consistently demonstrated our commitment to clinical excellence through our treatment outcomes. As a leading Department in the country, we have also adapted to challenges posed by the Covid virus by expanding our research initiatives. Our physicians have upskilled and are uniquely equipped to perform a range of cutting-edge procedures and other robotic-assisted interventions. We are pleased to share our knowledge with the community through the Apollo Chest Update 2024 – we hope budding pulmonologists will imbibe from us and also enrich us with their experiences and insights.”
The Apollo Chest Update, an annual feature, seeks to bring together clinicians, researchers and faculty from across India to educate postgraduate medical students and specialists in pulmonary medicine. Over 200 pulmonologists attended the event on Sunday.
