Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami laid the foundation stone for the construction of TIDEL IT Park at Pattabiram, with an aim to usher in development in the northern parts of the capital city.
The Chief Minister laid the foundation stone through video conferencing for the 5.57 lakh sq.ft facility, a DIPR release said.

This is the second TIDEL park in the city come up at an estimated cost of Rs 235 crore, with the first one being located on the busy Rajiv Gandhi Salai, also known as the city’s IT Corridor for the presence of various software companies along the route.
The release said that much like the first TIDEL Park ensured development in south Chennai, the upcoming facility will act as a platform to usher in social and economic growth in the northern parts of Chennai.
It will encourage new businesses around it, benefitting 25,000 people with direct employment opportunities, and will be completed in 24 months, the release added. The 5.57 lakh square feet building with 21 floors will have modern facilities like terrace garden etc at a plot area of 10 acres.
On this occasion, the Industries Minister M.C. Sampath handed over a cheque for an amount of Rs. 50 lakh from the CSR fund of Tidel park toward the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to meet the exigencies arising out of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Chief Minister also inaugurated 16 electricity sub-stations commissioned in different parts of the state at an estimated Rs 235.20 crore.
The sub-stations have been established in Salem, Namakkal, Tirupur and Thanjavur districts, among others, the release said.
Minister for Tamil Development, Culture and Archaeology M. Pandiarajan, Industries Minister M.C. Sampath, Chief Secretary K. Shanmugam, Principal Secretaries to Industries Department N. Muruganantham, TIIC Managing Director Karkala Usha, TIDEL MD K.P. Karthikeyan among others were present.
Rs. 855-crore soft loan disbursed to 112 MSMEs under CORUS scheme
According to the release, a soft loan of Rs. 855-crore at a subsidised interest rate of 6 per cent has been disbursed to 112 MSMEs since March 31 under the Covid Relief and Upliftment Scheme (CORUS) for the existing standard MSMEs across the state, the release added.
