The Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) Admiral Karambir Singh PVSM AVSM ADC, on Friday visited INS Valsura, the premier Electrical Training Establishment of the Indian Navy, in Jamnagar of Gujarat.
During his visit, he reviewed the progress of various infrastructural projects and training facilities of the establishment. The CNS appreciated the augmented training facilities established at Valsura in the field of Electrical, Electronics and Information Technology.
In recognition with the emerging trends in Machine Learning, a new Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Big Data Analytics (BDA) Lab was commissioned at the unit in the presence of the CNS. This AI & BDA Lab has been set up with high performance hardware and software and will be utilised for training of naval personnel in this futuristic technology. In addition to training and development capability, the lab will also act as a Centre of Excellence (CoE) to promote the Navy’s fundamental research and development efforts in AI and BDA.
In addition, a 2 MW Solar Photovoltaic (SPV) Plant, executed under the aegis of Ministry of Defence, was commissioned in the presence of the CNS. This SPV plant is in consonance with the Indian Navy’s commitment towards reducing carbon footprint and adoption of clean and green energy. The CNS also interacted with all personnel of ‘Valsura Parivar’ and complimented them for their role in training and nation-building.
