AHMEDABAD, APRIL 6

Stating that media is the fourth pillar of our democracy and it is the need of the hour to recognise the journalists’ role in delivering true stories without any fear or favour and also risking their lives and health, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Patel will honour 25 best journalists at the 3rd edition of the Gujarat Media Awards to be held on Thursday, the organizers said..

The felicitation function will be held at 6 pm at Tagore Hall, Ahmedabad, on Thursday, April 7.

The jurists are former Chief Secretary of Gujarat and Trustee of Somnath Mandir Trust PK Laheri, Gujarat University Head of Journalism Department Dr Sonal Pandya, and NIMCJ director Shirish Kashikar.

This third edition has received overwhelming response as a large number of journalists have submitted their entries. The panel of judges have scrutinised all and selected the best 25 journalists in different categories from television, print, radio and digital media.

This biannual event, “Gujarat Media Awards 2022,” recognises the commendable work of journalists from Gujarat and encourages them to play their part as catalysts to the society. This will further raise the standard of journalism as a whole in vibrant Gujarat, said Ankit Hingu, the main organiser of the event.

The awards were jointly instituted by the Media Welfare Trust and Sun Media Services.

A large number of media professionals and students of journalism from Gujarat will be present at this award ceremony.
