Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani on Saturday inaugurated four bus-stands, two depots-cum-workshops, and a residential quarters, built at a total cost of Rs 46 crore through video-conferencing, for the employees of Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC), a government relaes said.
Transport Minister R.C. Faladu and Minister of State for Transport Ishwarsinh Patel were present on the occasion.
The four ST bus-stands were inaugurated at Mansa in Gandhinagar, Lakhani at Banaskantha and Sankheda and Kukarmuda in Chhota Udepur districts, respectively. Two bus depots-cum-workshops were inaugurated at Naliya in Kutch district and Gadadha in Botad district, stated an official release from the state government.
The residential colony for the ST employees has been built at Amreli. The Chief Minister also inaugurated through digital platform from his residence a new Regional Transport Office (RTO) in Jamnagar and four Assistant Regional Transport Offices (ARTOs) at Devbhoomi-Dwarka, Gir-Somnath, Anand, and Chhota Udepur districts. Rupani also said that the state will soon operate 50 electric buses across the state.
On this occasion, the CM praised State transport employees who have been serving the people of Gujarat even in the prevailing situation of Corona outbreak. In addition, CM said that the development journey of Gujarat will never stop and the state will always continue to its tradition of turning disaster into an opportunity.
The Chief Minister made it clear that ST Corporation is a means of serving the people and without worrying about profit and loss, the state government is committed to provide easy and cheap transport service to the remote areas as well. He clearly said that Gujarat has become a leader in the country in providing transparent and fast services with the use of advanced technology in the transport sector.
Now, with the modern technological approach like the GPS system in ST buses, online monitoring, easy travel pass to students, and also online appointment in license issue through RTO, online payment at home, civic services have become easier and more comprehensive.
Vijay Rupani proudly mentioned that the government has developed a fast and transparent work culture under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendrabhai Modi.
Transport Minister R.C. Faldu said that under the visionary leadership of the Chief Minister, the Department of Transport has been adding more and more growth and hoped that these new bus-stands would become a new milestone in the service of the travelling public of the state.
Kamal Dayani, Principal Secretary, Transport, M.D. of Road Transport Corporation, S. J. Haider, Transport Commissioner, Rajesh Manju, Chief Minister’s O.S.D. D.H. Shah were also present.
