To help thousands of students, youths, children, and parents, Gujarat Chief Minister Vijaybhai Rupani on Saturday announced to extend the period of caste certificate for SEBC classes up to one year. Earlier, the validity period of the Caste Certificate issued to the youths of SEBC classes was expiring on till March 31, 2020, but, now it would be considered valid up to March 31, 2021.

The Chief Minister has also decided that the validity of Income Certificates being issued by the state government, which expired on March 31, 2020, has also been extended up to March 31, 2021. The validity of the income certificate for the non-creamy layer of SEBC is of three-years. To extend the validity period of the certificate, the holders need not require to visit the Mamlatdar office or to make an online application.
In total, these two decisions of the Chief Minister would approximately benefit 17 lakh people. Of them, 13,92,000 are beneficiaries of income certificates and 2,98,000 are beneficiaries of Non-Creamy Layer Certificates.
Such certificates obtained from the competent authorities by holders of SC, ST castes are valid without anytime limit.
