Stating that wind power is an environment-friendly, clean energy source and Gujarat is way ahead of others in tapping renewable energy, Chief Minister Vijay Rupani virtually inaugurated the new plant of Gurit Wind Private Limited at Rajoda near Bavla in Ahmedabad district on Thursday.
The CEO of Gurit Wind System Denmark, CFO and COO of Gurit Group Switzerland have thanked the state government for its support in setting up this plant.
Rupani said, “Gujarat has successfully adopted several measures to raise its participation in efficient, reliable and clean energy sector with the aim to be the leader in renewable energy sector.”
In Gujarat, wind energy is contributing 8782 MW or 62 percent of total installed capacity of renewable energy which is 14184 MW, the CM added.

Mentioning that wind power is an environment-friendly clean energy source which will check global warming challenges, CM said that wind energy is also useful in reducing carbon emissions. As a consequence of the wind energy project, 26 million tonnes of carbon emission has been reduced. Gujarat’s wind power projects have produced 29,153 million units, saving 116 lakh tonnes of coal, added Rupani.
CM said that the world’s largest renewable energy park in Kutch, Gujarat, is being developed in an area of 60,000 hectares. This project will generate 30 gigawatts of renewable energy.
CM added that even during Covid-19, the pace of investments in industrial sectors in Gujarat has not stopped. With the FDI of 22 billion USD during the year 2020-21, Gujarat has become country’s top state.
CM expressed his hope that this new plant would create new employment opportunities in the state and contribute in the direction of ‘Make in Gujarat’ in the wind energy sector.
Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister MK Das said, “Under the visionary leadership and guidance of the Chief Minister, Gujarat has created an encouraging environment for new investors in the state with new policies and incentives. As a result, many large industries and investments have come to Gujarat for manufacturing and business.”
