In a swift sea operation, while responding to call for help, Indian Coast Guard ship C-419 apprehended an Indian fishing boat Kirmani with nine crews, including two of the crew hiding on a dead vessel namely MT Morbius (AL Marzouqah) under tow, by tug Allianz Titanium to Alang at 7:30 am on Wednesday, a Defence release said.
The theft was reported at eight miles from Navabandar port, were boarding party from ICG ship reached in short span and boarded the dead vessel apprehending miscreants who were handed over to Marine Police at Pipavav.
The apprehended crew is being interrogated by the district police authorities and punitive action against them will surely bring deterrence to stop such activities, the release added.
