As many as 4 packets of charas or opium valued at Rs 6 lakh were recovered from Luna Bet off Jakhau coast in Gujarat’s Kutch district on Wednesday, a Coast Guard releases said.

The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) hovercraft during routine sea sortie found four packets of charas lying suspicious on Luna Bet outside Jakhau Harbour on Wednesday at 4 pm. Each packet of opium weighs approximately 1 Kg each and the total cost of 4 packets is Rs 6 lakh on the international market.
Further investigations were underway to ascertain the origins of the contraband, the PRO, Headquarters Coast Guard Region (NW), Gandhinagar added.
