The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) on Wednesday announced that it has rescued six fishermen from a fishing boat in Gulf of Mannar. The crew along with their boat was safely brought to Tuticorin harbour in Tamil Nadu.
The fishermen were rescued from a distressed fishing boat ‘Punitha Anthoniyar.’ The search and rescue operation was carried by Indian Coast Guard ship Abhiraj.
Recently, the Indian Coast Guard had airlifted 11 fishermen to safety in Odisha. The fishermen were stranded in Bay of Bengal amid threats of Cyclone Asani. The fishermen were rescued from a boat off Odisha Coast near Sonapur.
