Chennai coders emerge as global trailblazers

Leading Chennai’s moment of global pride, Balashiva S was crowned Winner in the Best Emerging Coder Category, outclassing thousands of competitors with exceptional analytical depth and programming mastery.

Equally impressive was Keerthi KP, who secured the First Runner-Up position in the Best Women Coders Category, underscoring the rising global influence of women technologists from India and reinforcing Chennai’s growing stature as a world-class coding hub.

Their achievements highlight Chennai’s accelerating ascent as a powerhouse of innovation and digital talent, aligned with TCS’s mission to nurture future-ready programmers capable of solving real-world challenges.

Guinness World Records recognition reinforces CodeVita’s global stature

Swapnil Dangarikar, Senior Adjudicator, Guinness World Records, said, “TCS CodeVita has earned the unique distinction of breaking the record for the largest computer programming competition with 146,922 participants in its 13th season of organizing this competition. TCS CodeVita broke its own previous record set in season 9. This solidifies TCS’s goal of promoting programming as a sport and a force for positive change.”

This recognition cements CodeVita’s evolution into a global phenomenon, redefining programming not merely as a technical skill but as a competitive intellectual sport shaping future innovation.

TCS reinforces talent discovery in the age of generative AI

Sudeep Kunnumal, Chief Human Resources Officer, TCS, said, “Setting another Guinness World Record is a proud achievement for everyone at TCS. My heartfelt congratulations to this year’s winner and all the finalists. TCS CodeVita gives aspiring coders a global stage to showcase their ability to solve complex real-world problems. As generative AI reshapes the technology landscape, our ability to find and cultivate the right talent is more critical than ever. CodeVita remains central to that effort, helping us identify high-potential talent through an engaging, gamified recruitment platform.”

Human–AI collaboration redefines the future of competitive coding

A defining highlight of CodeVita 2026 was the introduction of a pioneering AI-assisted programming mini-competition, where the top 30 finalists collaborated with advanced frontier AI models including ChatGPT, Claude Sonnet, and Gemini.

This innovative format allowed TCS to observe, in real time, how programmers leveraged AI as validators, collaborators, and problem-solving partners—offering valuable insights into the future dynamics of human–AI synergy in software development.

Women coders set historic benchmark

This season marked a historic milestone for gender representation, with six Indian women finalists entering the global top 30—the highest ever in CodeVita history, signalling the rapid rise of women leaders in technology and programming.
