Fun-loving Aapnu Amdavadis have seen thousands of live comedy shows and series on television. Satire and sarcasm are tools through which one can criticise institutions, government authorities or entities in a funny way.
Starved of wholesome family entertainer for over 20 months owing to COVID-induced ban on live shows, Amdavadis thronged Tagore Hall in Paldi area on Saturday night to laugh their heart out with many having aching jaw bones.
Comedian duo Vijay Yadav, Parvinder Singh gave laughter dose to Amdavadis and cured their coronaphobia. Vijay Yadav is known for his ability to turn the recent issues and problems into his content for stand- up comedy while Parvinder Singh rose to fame with his charismatic stand-up comedy in Akshay Kumar’s ‘The Great Indian Laughter Challenge’ (2017).
The duo staged the ‘Comedy Cabaret’ Show organized by Sharp Eye Events, an entertainment event organizer, run by Ravi Maheshwari and Prachi Sharma from the heritage city.
Speaking with navjeevanexpress.com, Vijay Yadav said, “As a stand-up comic, our job should only be making the audience laugh and think. Nothing matters after that. However, we ensure that our content is very clean so as to entertain the families without any double-meaning jokes. Thus our shows do not create any embarrassing situation for the family. Our comedy shows are for pure laughter. You can sit with your entire family and watch them to keep bay all your worries.”
Answering a query on difference between a live show and TV show, Parvinder Singh said, “Live shows are morale boosters for us as we get immediate applause and feel the audiences’ pulse. TV shows evolved from live shows. Throw live shows we share funny stories about our birth place, episodes of our campus life and many more. And above all our stories are relatable and humourous for fans of all ages.”
Commenting on the reaction of Amdavadis, the duo said, “We had a lot of fun with Amdavadis. And as always, this time too they have given us a lot of love.”
Organizers of Sharp Eye Events Ravi Maheshwari and Prachi Sharma said, “Ahmedabad fans have shown tremendous response to this show. We are fortunate that Vijay Yadav and Parvinder Singh have staged the show for us. Every time they cracked a joke, the audience busted into laughter. We are planning to form a Comedy Club in Ahmedabad which will give a platform for all budding stand-up comedians to groom themselves.”
Ravi Maheshwari added, “Comedy is best medicine for any kind of diseases. My suggestion is that everybody should watch at least half an hour comedy before going to sleep. It will help you to relieve the stress.
