Commodore JS Dhanoa assumed the duties of Commanding Officer, Indian Naval Ship (INS) Valsura, the premier electrical training establishment of Indian Navy, from Commodore Gautam Marwaha, at a ceremonial parade held on Saturday at Jamnagar.
Commodore Gautam Marwaha commanded INS Valsura from May 24, 2021 and the unit was awarded the President’s Colour during his tenure on March 25, 2022.

Commodore JS Dhanoa, an alumnus of the National Defence Academy and Naval College of Engineering, Lonavala was commissioned in the Indian Navy on
July 1, 1993 and has served onboard frontline warships, namely, Ganga, Brahmaputra and Talwar.
He has been conferred Doctorate in the field of Underwater Acoustic Communication by the Canfield University, UK. He has held various staff appointments at Weapons and Electronics Systems Engineering Establishment (WESEE), Indian Naval Academy (INA) and Naval Dockyard (Mumbai).
He has the distinction of serving as the Defence Attache at the Embassy of India, Jakarta Indonesia. The Commodore is also a recipient of VK Jain Gold Medal for applied research.
