Fly-pasts by fighter jets, aerial flower shower, performances by military bands at major hospitals, and lighting up of warships marked the nation-wide mega exercise by the Armed Forces on Sunday to express gratitude to lakhs of doctors, paramedics and other front-line workers battling the coronavirus pandemic.
As part of their nationwide programme to felicitate the Corona Warriors across the country on Sunday, officers of the Indian Army’s Konark Corps visited AIIMS Jodhpur, SN Medical College, MD Medical College, Divisional Commissioner, Superintendent of Police Jodhpur, AF Hospital Jaisalmer, and conservancy staff who took personal care of the evacuees from Iran to ensure all of them were fit post-testing positive and presented gifts as a mark of thanksgiving, a Defence release said.
The army officers were led by Lt Gen Anil Puri, General Officer Commanding, Konark Corps, Rajasthan, Gujarat.
Lt Gen Anil Puri personally feted the doctors, nursing staff, medical support staff, health sanitizing teams, and police personnel by presenting the gift boxes. Also, Military Band performed to boost the morale of the COVID Warriors at Jodhpur and Ahmedabad, respectively.

Aircraft of the Indian Air Force showered petals on hospitals in Ahmedabad and conducted a fly-past over the city and the Gujarat Assembly complex in Gandhinagar on Sunday to thank healthcare workers and others involved in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic.

The Indian Navy also saluted the ‘corona warriors’ by illuminating its vessels along the Gujarat coast in the early hours of Sunday.

An IAF helicopter showered petals on the civil hospital and the civic-run Sardar Vallabhbhai Hospital in Ahmedabad, where coronavirus positive patients are being treated, to express gratitude towards those engaged in the battle against the deadly disease.

Personnel of the IAF band also arrived at the two hospitals and played the tune of ‘Saare Jahaan Se Achcha, Hindustan Hamara’, a Defence release said.

Besides, the IAF’s Sukhoi fighter jets (SU-30/3 fighter aircraft) carried out a fly-past over Ahmedabad city and the Legislative Assembly building in Gandhinagar in a formation at a low level, it said.
